Aleana Savage


Aleana Savage is a PhD student at the University of Michigan in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology investigating interactions of bat symbionts and parasites across landscapes with Dr. Kelly Speer & Dr. Meghan Duffy. Aleana completed her MSc in Biology with Dr. Giorgia Auteri’s lab at Missouri State focused in urban bat behavior. Aleana graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BSc in Environmental Sciences. She has worked in a variety of STEM education and public outreach positions sharing her love for all things wild. She has worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation, Orbis Consulting, and Stantec, assisting with summer roost surveys, migration tracking, and fall swarm sampling. She has also assisted with sample collection for the Bat Conservation International Fat Bat project and taking infrared recordings of roost exits for US Fish and Wildlife Service. She is excited to serve as the Student Representative for MWBWG for another term!
