Vanessa Rojas

Vanessa Rojas is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biology under the advisement of Dr. Joy O’Keefe at Indiana State University.  Her field research is focused on the ecology and conservation of bats in the southern Appalachian Mountains, with a focus on the endangered Indiana bat.  She also volunteers for many local bat events and projects in the Midwest. Vanessa holds degrees in Environmental Studies and Applications (B.S. from Michigan State University) and Biology (M.S. from University of Michigan – Flint).  Bats have been Vanessa’s primary focus since 2007 through her work in both universities and non-profit organizations (Organization for Bat Conservation, Bat Conservation International).  She is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting bat conservation through her research, writing and with outreach in local communities.
