2017 Meeting

We are happy to announce the 2017 MWBWG meeting in Madison, Wisconsin April 6-7th 2017 at the Pyle Center. A block of 45 rooms will be reserved at the Lowell Center, 610 Langdon Street, which is conveniently located one block from the Pyle Center.

Dave Redell Lifetime Achievement Award Nomination Request

The Midwest Bat Working Group is seeking nominations for the Dave Redell Lifetime Achievement Award.  This award honors an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary, long-term commitment to promoting and preserving bats in the Midwest through research, conservation, education, or other creative projects.  Any MWBWG member from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin is eligible to be recognized.

MWBWG Student Travel Award Call for Applications 2017

The Midwest Bat Working Group is accepting applications for a new student travel award.  This award is intended to promote student attendance at the annual MWBWG meeting by offsetting the cost of travel and registration.  The award will be granted to one student, and will include:

  • registration and 2017 MWBWG membership fee waived
  • $200 to assist with travel costs to meeting

2017 MWBWG Silent Auction

The Wisconsin planning team for the 2017 Midwest Bat Working Group annual meeting will be hosting a silent auction fundraiser that will run during the Poster Session and Social on Thursday, April 6th.  Proceeds of the silent auction will be used to support state bat festivals or other bat conservation outreach events, and to support a student scholarship.  Please let Brian Heeringa know by email (brian.heeringa@gmail.com) or call 715-292-5692 if you plan to donate an item for the silent auction. Please consider donating an item for this great fund-raising opportunity!


Student Professional Development Opportunity at the 2017 MWBWG Meeting

Student Members will have the opportunity to meet with professionals to discuss natural resource careers in a casual atmosphere over free* lunch. An array of professionals representing universities, consultants, non-profits, and state and federal agencies will be on-hand to talk in small-group settings. Take advantage of this opportunity to explore different options and ideas for your career paths. This is just one perk of becoming a student member of MWBWG! 2017 MWBWG Shirts available

Please order your 2017 MWBWG T-shirt. Shirts must be ordered by Monday, March 20th. All shirts are $20 and will be brought to the MWBWG meeting by Rob Mies from Organization of Bat Conservation for distribution. New this year, there are shirt options for both women and men!
